 SPECIAL PROCEDURES
 
  1. OTOLOGY SURGERY- Patients having disease of middle ear and mastoid are the common candidates to undergo repair of the ear drum or bones of hearing (ossicles). This surgery is called as Tympanoplasty. In cases with extensive disease in the bone behind the ear (mastoid), the above surgery is associated with drilling of the mastoid bone- which is termed as Tympano- mastoidectomy. In cases with fixation of third bone of hearing (stapes) a surgical procedure of stapedectomy is performed. All the otologic surgeries are aimed to achieve a dry, discharge free ear and correct the deafness.

  2. SURGERY FOR VERTIGO- The patients who do not respond to medical line of treatment in cases with vertigo are suggested either Trans-Tympanic Gentamicin, or Endolymphatic Sac Decompression, Vestibular Nerve Section.

  3. SURGERY OF FACIAL NERVE - This involves in patients with paralyzed face. It could be immediate decompression of the facial nerve or reconstruction of the nerve with grafting of another nerve or later date re-animation procedure. It also deals with tumours of the nerve itself or in its vicinity.

  4. SURGERY FOR SKULL BASE- Deals with tumour pathology of floor of the skull either from behind (posterior approach), from side (lateral approach) or from front (anterior approach). These are a team approach usually with Neuro-Surgeon.

  5. RHINOLOGY SURGERY- It deals with nasal septum and sinuses. The common surgery are to relieve nasal obstruction caused by deflected nasal septum or septal spurs.

  6. SINUS SURGERY- Patients with Chronic Sinusitis (cold and nasal discharge) not getting better with medicines are the cases for sinus surgery also called as FESS (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery). It is also advocated in patients with nasal polyps and infected enlarged middle turbinate (Concha Bullosa).

  7. ADVANCE ENDO-NASAL SURGERY – Patients with complex problems as Nasal Tumours, brain fluid leak (CSF) or lesions involving the orbit, optic nerve are the candidates for the minimal invasive advance technique of FESS.

  8. THROAT AND ORO-PHARYENGEAL SURGERY- Regular cases of Adenoids, Chronic Tonsillitis, Oral cavity lesions. Cases with disorder of voice (micro-laryngeal Surgery for Snoring. Benign salivary gland pathology is the common conditions treated.

  9. MALINGNANT TUMOURS OF HEAD AND NECK- Cancer or voice box, Restoration of Voice after laryngeal surgery, Thyroid pathology, Salivary gland tumours, cases with oral cancer and neck node involvement are attended along with a cancer surgeon.

  10. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES- Airway, Haemorrhage from nose, naso-pharyngeal region, Facial Trauma and Fractures are treated.

  11. LASER SURGERY: Usually for cases of vocal cord lesions (Nodule, midline palsy) or small growths of upper airway, stenosis are treated.
